Code Zero Laminates

ZL Code Zero Laminates: Great performance on beam/broad reach courses

Is your performance cruiser or racing yacht equipped with a non-overlapping jib and maybe a bowsprit? Then a rolling Code Zero or an asymmetrical reaching spinnaker can considerably improve the performance of your yacht in lighter weather conditions.
Nylon spinnaker fabric is not sufficiently stable for these sails. That is why we recommend our ZL Code Zero laminates, designed especially for this type of sail.

Contender ZL Code Zero laminates assure you of a sail which is very stable but still light, pliable and easy to handle.
The range is available in two styles:

ZL Black Code Zero Laminate

ZL Gold Code Zero Laminate

Prefer woven sailcloth to a laminate?
Ask your sailmaker for Contender  Stormlite Polyester sailcloth. Stormlite is of a similar weight and finish to the equivalent Nylon spinnaker cloth but its Polyester weave gives it greater stability under load.

Cres James Testimonial Two dfdf

I recently purchased a new Dufour 310 Grand Large and had to decide which fabric to use for all of the canvas work I required on this yacht. This included a bimini, dodger, sun awning, steering wheel covers, boom cover and headsail UV cover.

After considerable research into both the Sunbrella and WeatherMax 80 fabrics, there was no doubt in my mind that the WeatherMax 80 was the obvious choice.

My previous yacht has Sunbrella covers, so I was very familiar with its wear and weatherproof qualities, but the WeatherMax fabric, appeared to me to be a much better quality fabric in all respects, including ongoing maintenance.

I chose the graphite colour to blend in with the colour of the yacht and am absolutely delighted with the finished products. The fabric appears to be very strong with excellent weatherproof qualities, but above all has a fantastic sheen to its appearance. I have received many positive comments from other boat owners.

About Us

Our mission is to be a complete wholesale organisation to sailmakers, riggers, marine trimmers and shade and awning fabricators in Australia and export to selected markets in the Pacific region. Our success is based on the ability to supply from stock with minimal delay, combined with unsurpassed product knowledge. Being active sailors ourselves, we understand the needs of our customers. Contender is conveniently located by one of Australia's best sailing waters.

Contender offers a range of sailcloth’s from one-design to Grand Prix to cruising. We understand the needs of sailmakers and work with them to provide the best materials for the job. The result is a range of fabrics renowned for its quality and performance. Cruising yachts spread across the oceans, Olympic medals and the Grand Prix race fleet all share the common thread of Contender Sailcloth.

Complementing our quality range of sailcloth, we carry a world class range of sailmakers hardware products, sourced locally and internationally. We strive to provide a wide range for efficiency and customer convenience.

For over fifteen years Contender Sailcloth Pty Ltd has been the national distributor for Selden's Furlex Furlers, Rodkickers and Spinnaker Poles. Since the start of 2007 we have become the complete Australian Selden distributor. There has been a steady increase in 'aftermarket' business as Selden, being the largest mast manufacturer in the world, is often found on many imported yachts. The Selden product range is extensive and focused on simplifying the sailing experience. Utilising on-mast spinnaker pole storage or gennaker poles make down wind sailing easier and more enjoyable.
Selden’s Single line reefing system is now a standard feature on a vast array of yachts, providing safe reefing from the comfort of the cockpit.
Since the launch of the Selden Deckhardware range we have seen the blocks utilised on racing dinghies, performance racing and cruising yachts and ocean going multihulls all with great success.

Contender Sailcloth Pty Ltd has been the national distributor for WeatherMax High Performance Outdoor Fabric since late 2008. In that time we have made WeatherMax a household name with sailmakers and marine trimmers alike. To promote the range into the shade and awning industry we have been Silver Sponsors whilst exhibiting at the last two Specialised Textiles trade shows.

The WeatherMax range is available through the following distribution network:

National Distributor (NSW) – Contender Sailcloth Pty Ltd

Brisbane – Hamlin’s Accessories
                Daley’s AMU

Melbourne – Option Marine

Adelaide- Daley’s AMU
